Growing Virginia's Adventure Ed Programs
The Virginia Adventure Education Conference (VAAEC) is an annual, one-day event that provides accessible and affordable networking and professional development for students and professionals in the outdoor leadership field. The VAAEC includes an opening playnote session, keynote address, workshop sessions, lunch, giveaways, and outdoor adventure games.
During the conference, industry professionals and students present on topics that cover industry best practices, adaptive involvement strategies, risk management techniques, emerging industry gear and technology, and the future of adventure education and tourism in Virginia.
Conference attendance continues to grow each year. Students from dozens of Virginia colleges and universities have been represented. Past participating colleges and universities include Brevard College, Ferrum College, George Mason University, James Madison University, Liberty University, Lord Fairfax Community College, Old Dominion University, Radford University, Shenandoah University, University of Lynchburg, University of Virginia, Virginia Commonwealth University, Virginia Tech, and Virginia Western Community College.
